D IS FOR DEMON

“QUIEN CONOCE AL PERSONAJE NO ME CONOCE A MI”

.A portrait series honoring Blue Demon (Alejandro Muñoz Moreno, 1922–2000) — luchador, film star, and pop icon.

Appearing in more than twenty-five films between 1964 and 1979, his mask became his aesthetic. He never revealed his identity, and was buried wearing it.

This project is part of I(DOLLS), an ongoing in-costume self-portrait series that reframes collective history through autobiographical portraiture. Created in collaboration with Mexican photographer Erich Bouccan, whose grandfather knew Blue Demon closely during his career. The visual language draws from found imagery and Bouccan’s family archive.
